The Tunbridge World's Fair

Image
We went to the Fair on Sunday. It was a beautiful, sunny, crisp fall day and we headed out with James as our guide.  He had already been with the 3rd grade for a field trip- they did the educational side :)  We had a lovely drive to Tunbridge and found a place to park and took the wagon to the gate.  A horse arena greeted us but nothing garnered more attention than the amusement park style rides popping up over the fenced in area, so off we went!  The boys enjoyed riding various rides but nothing was more fun than seeing James and William go off together to ride the Flying Bobs and some kind of hang gliding one.  James had never ridden these kinds of rides before. James is cautious, gets motion sickness and overall seems to stay away from that kind of stuff. I think he was determined(he also has a will of steel).  I was super worried....wanting to caution him, encourage him not to ride, he might get sick etc.  I didn't do it......instead I watched...

The other 20 lbs. and I finally got through the canning process! Whew! Celebrated 44 on Tuesday and it was a good day! Here are a few of my my favorite things from the last couple of days :)  Hershey's back of the cocoa box cake - so yummy!  Tomatoes!!  super cool bud vase from a friend :) My birthday present  -yay!

Catching Up

Image
I've finished my first official week of work and I am tired but energized! I am, however, looking forward to tomorrow when I can catch up on all the "things" that are awaiting me  -- especially the two 20 lb. boxes of tomatoes that I plan on canning tomorrow! Today James went on an all day field trip to the Tunbridge Worlds Fair.  I hear it is quite the event! He was excited about going but a bit hesitant as I wasn't able to accompany him. I think he will be happy to be able to tell us all about it and be our guide if we go back.  So far from the news of the day, the pig races were the big hit for him. I also bought my first pie pumpkins when I got the tomatoes.  Nothing says fall like rows of pumpkins. Here are some from Crossroads Farm where I often go. Also picked up a couple of butternut squash. I can already taste the soup I will make with them. So I am catching up too on a photo of the boys on the first day of school.  The end of this ...
