Summer Travel

A month is a long time to be away.  We left Vermont on July 2 and returned on August 2nd.   Our journey south reconnected us with family and friends and the gentle rhythm of the South. I miss the South. There is something easy and familiar about it. Mountains to city to beach and back, it was great to be with friends and family. Here is a snapshot of our visit. Just Another Night in Vermont

There are opportunities presented to us here in rural-ish Vermont that we haven't experienced before. Really interesting events and sights that seem more of a weekly occurance than out of the ordinary.  It is these events and happening that continue to draw me to this place and land.  It is hard to explain until you experience it first-hand. Last weekend there was an event held on a small airfield in Post Mills, VT.  The airfield is home to a local ballooner with world wide fame. Once spring arrives, he can be found at dawn and dusk, when the wind is right, taking folks up in his hot air balloons.  We have even had the experience of "chasing" him to see where he would land and having the landing site be the fields of Thetford Academy right behind our house! The event started last year and we didn't make it. This year I was determined to go.  The boys were un-interested in joining me and Bill was still in a meeting, so I went on my own.  Bill later j...

Last time I posted we were firmly stuck in winter.  Today with a high of 52 degrees, I can see a glimpse of what might be called spring.  I love the sun and the warming up of the weather but this mud, this mud is something I could do without. And then there is this.....

And the Snow Goes On

For all my friends and family living in the south, here are some glimpses of everyday life here during the winter! Oh, and I can't get the dishwasher to run yet today as the pipes are too cold!  I'm going to keep trying though!  The snow has just kicked up a bit!  Happy Valentine's Day!
