everything changes

It is now November 3rd.  The colder weather has rolled in and the lovely shades of reds and yellows are gone.  The trees are mostly bare.  We are entering the season of stark contrasts, highs and lows. I have been told some folks call it stick season- the season before the snow, where the trees are bare, sticks blowing in the wind. The snow will roll in.  Not sure when, but it will come.  Boys anxiously awaiting its arrival and the beginning of ski season.  Also the beginning of snow pants, warm socks, base layers , hats, gloves, and more layers. Things a Southerner could really never think about getting her hands around.

James has gone to camp

Image
A piece of our family is missing.  James has gone to camp. A week and a couple of days ago we dropped an excited and increasingly nervous James off at Camp Billings. The Camp is in Fairlee, VT, 20 minutes from our house.  We have driven by this camp for the last three summers and this summer, we have someone there to experience its charm and traditions that began back in 1906. These two weeks are all about James and I hope he is taking full advantage of the freedom to do what he wants to do!  With and older and younger brother, he seems to be sandwiched in between the comings and going of everyone else - but not these two weeks! I still drive by the camp on occasion as I go out to another part of the lake to pick up the other boys at camp, and we have had two glimpses of James.  Both times he has been playing tennis on the courts that are close to the street.  I can pick him out because, both times he was wearing very colorful tie-dyed t-shirts.  He l...

Poor Boy Poor boy No joy Poor guy It's not a lie No joke Arm broke Like I said He's not dead! First time That's a rhyme! I feel sad He feels mad I didn't know at all Until Mom made a call I felt sorry So did you Poem's over Now we're through.
