Catching Up
I've finished my first official week of work and I am tired but energized! I am, however, looking forward to tomorrow when I can catch up on all the "things" that are awaiting me -- especially the two 20 lb. boxes of tomatoes that I plan on canning tomorrow!
Today James went on an all day field trip to the Tunbridge Worlds Fair. I hear it is quite the event! He was excited about going but a bit hesitant as I wasn't able to accompany him. I think he will be happy to be able to tell us all about it and be our guide if we go back. So far from the news of the day, the pig races were the big hit for him.
I also bought my first pie pumpkins when I got the tomatoes. Nothing says fall like rows of pumpkins. Here are some from Crossroads Farm where I often go. Also picked up a couple of butternut squash. I can already taste the soup I will make with them.
So I am catching up too on a photo of the boys on the first day of school. The end of this week will mark the first full 5 day week we have had. Funny, it seems school started so long ago :)
I love, love, love that second pic of the pumpkin stand.
ReplyDeleteWhere are you working? I somehow missed this.
Summer DOES seem far away. Someone asked me the other night how my summer was and I actually had to stop and think about it because I couldn't remembe! Once school starts, summer is out of the mind!
Thanks Stacey! I started working for the soccer group that William is playing for. Just part time help - keeps me out of trouble and spending less $$ :)
Deleteholy mackerel . . . 40 lbs of tomatoes??!! what are you going to do with all of those beautiful jars of red? and I didn't know you were into canning - me too! I'm trying to decide what to do this weekend and guess I'll leave it up to the farmer's market. glad to read a little bit of your life in Vermont and wish I'd been a the pig races with James! Take care . . . K
ReplyDeleteHey K - I have done some canning here and there and find it quite a process but love the results! First time for tomatoes. I made some freezer blueberry jelly and have canned applesauce. Great gifts :)
