Visit from Mom and Dad

Finally, they are here!  Mom and Dad arrived on Wed., Oct. 17th for their first visit to VT. I drove down to Boston to pick them up and we had a fun time catching up on the ride back.  Boston is only about 2 hours and 30 minutes away - just a short drive now, so come on up and visit :)

The drive back through New Hampshire and Vermont was quite lovely. Lots of golden trees and a pop of red here and there.  We missed the full effect of the turning of the leaves but it sure was lovely.  The mountains here are wide and long - encompassing your whole view. Coming up over crest of a hill the view opened up to the green mountains.

While Mom and Dad were here we visited, Quechee, VT,  Woodstock,VT, Lyme, NH, Hanover, NH, drove around the Dartmouth campus, had lunch and toured around Hanover, visited around Norwich, VT and drove down to W. Lebanon, NH so they could see my "shopping" run!  We toured back roads and highways all who's scenery was full of color.  We had one day that was rainy but Dad got to finish his book and not tote it back with him on the plane.  Mom and Dad also saw lots of soccer.  They saw William practice, James practice and play in a game and also Thomas at his practice.  We visited the Congregational Church on Sunday together and enjoyed the experience of a new church.  Even some southerners in the mix! We darted into many of the VT General Stores but spent the most time at the one in Woodstock, VT.  It has a little bit of everything!

We also visited Lake Fairlee and saw the beach area where we swam during the summer. We stopped at a small air strip that is used by sail planes and hot air balloons and just happened to see a sail plane coming in for a landing.  It was really quite amazing and so quiet!

Tuesday morning came early and I drove them to the outskirts of Hanover to catch the Dartmouth Coach for their ride into Boston.  I think it was a smooth journey both ways.

I am so glad they have now been here and know more what I am talking about and how we live here in this new place. Hopefully they will be back soon!
