week one reflections
Before jumping into blogging about our first week here in St. Croix, I spent time re-reading my posts from when we first moved to VT. It was really awesome to read them again and rememberđź’•
A week goes fast - the hours can tick off slowly but here we are, a week into our move! Trudy joined us this past Thursday after a drive to Miami, a cargo flight to Puerto Rico, a layover and then a short flight to St. Croix. She seems no worst for the wear and is adjusting as well as could be expected! It will take her a bit to adjust to the heat. Sunny, our cat, made the trip with Bill a month ago so she has had a head start.
This week we have made frequent trips to various grocery stores to see what is available and compare pricing, checked out a few beaches and restaurants and continued to adjust to the surroundings, driving on the left side and the heat and humidity. It is certainly a test for me! Thank goodness for fans and breezes. The power has gone out 3 times since the boys and I arrived. The house has a generator, thankfully! Thursday evening all of us joined a few GHCDS alums who are guides, on a Caribbean Adventure Tours kayak trip to one of the small number of bioluminescence bays in the world. It was an amazing experience. We saw various other things along the way and got a good history of some of the area. Definitely something to do again with visitors :) Tomorrow we have been invited to sail over to Buck Island. The boys are excited to finally use the snorkel masks we picked up stateside for their actual purpose.
